World Health Day 2018 - Universal Health Coverage: Everyone, Everywhere

Universal health coverage (UHC) is about ensuring all people get the quality health services they need, without experiencing financial hardship.

On the occasion of World Health Day, WHO is calling on world leaders to live up to the pledges they made when they agreed the Sustainable Development Goals in 2015, and commit to concrete steps to advance health for all.

World TB Day 2018

Each year we commemorate World TB Day on March 24 to raise public awareness about the devastating health, social and economic consequences of tuberculosis (TB) and to step up efforts to end the global TB epidemic.

Despite significant progress over the last decades, TB continues to be the top infectious killer worldwide. Achieving a TB-free world means building leadership and commitment at all levels of society, from the highest offices of government to community health workers and volunteers.

World Water Day - Nature for water

World Water Day is a special occasion. On 22 March every year people across the globe to take the opportunity to reflect on, celebrate and advocate for clean and abundant water.

As the theme of this year’s World Water Day – “nature for water” – highlights, it is imperative we preserve ecosystems that provide fresh water. Just 2.5% of the earth’s water is fresh. Most is frozen in ice caps. In theory, just 1% of the world’s water is fit for human consumption. In reality, the actual volume is much less.

Countries commit to intensified efforts, concrete progress to End TB

Tracking progress to eliminate tuberculosis, Member countries of WHO South-East Asia Region committed to further intensifying efforts to ensure rapid and concrete progress to End TB by 2030.

In a statement adopted at the Delhi End TB Summit, member countries unanimously agreed to accelerate efforts to End TB in the Region, host to one fourth of the global population but a disproportionate 46% of the global TB burden.
