After Wroclaw 2017, The World Games Family is looking forward to Birmingham 2021!
Age is just a number for American Waterski jumper Scot Ellis. Although the hair of the 47-year-old ‘Rocketman’ has turned silver, he proved at the Moomba Masters that he has still got it – he hit the ramp at over 100 km/h and landed a jump of 60+ metres.
Last year, Suriname Korfball Federation was accepted as member of the International Korfball Federation. This year they were undefeated at the Pan American Championships, and have therefore qualified for the 2019 World Championships to be played in South Africa. They are our Team of March 2018!
They may come from a land ‘Down Under’, but Australian Wakeboard athletes demonstrated that they also excel at going up and over. At the IWWF World Wakeboard Championships in Buenos Aires their riders emerged with three gold medals.
A meeting between IOC President Thomas Bach and IWGA President José Perurena was held at the IOC Headquarters in Lausanne on 13th March. President Perurena was able to update Dr Bach on the final outcomes and what was learnt from The World Games 2017.
The stork has been kept very busy in the last few weeks by the good folks involved in Lacrosse. The Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) has been delighted to announce the birth of two new continental federations and an emoji!
Artist Marcus Fetch has created a mural in downtown Birmingham, Alabama. He hopes to get the citizens talking about The World Games 2021. The unique ‘B’ mark paints a picture for The World Games as the city looks to climb up the interest ranks as an international destination. It is located on The Waites building at Richard Arrington, between the University and 7th Avenue South.
