Penalties for unpaid fees and late withdrawals

Students Fees & Financial Support Penalties for unpaid fees and late withdrawals

It's important you finalise your enrolment and pay any outstanding fees and charges (including SSA Fee, subject fees and library fines) before certain dates in each study period. If you don't you could be penalised financially or academically.

Late payment penalties

Payment Due Date: if you have not paid your subject and SSA Fees by this date, your enrolment will be at risk of cancellation and restrictions.

Census Date: your enrolment will be cancelled if you have not paid or successfully submitted the relevant HELP forms to defer payment of your subject fees by the Census Date.

Results Publication Date: you will not be able to view your subject results until you have paid all outstanding SSA Fees or fines.

What happens if my enrolment is cancelled?

If you are cancelled as a Commonwealth supported student, you can request, in writing, to be re-enrolled within 21 days of the cancellation notice as a tuition fee paying student for those subjects. You will be required to make full payment of the higher fee at enrolment. See the domestic undergraduate miscellaneous tuition fee amounts.

If you are cancelled as a tuition fee paying student, you can request, in writing, to be re-enrolled within 21 days of the cancellation notice, with full payment of your tuition fees and a $100.00 reinstatement fee.

Late withdrawal penalties

Last date to withdraw without financial penalty - Census Date: all unwanted subjects must be withdrawn by the Census Date – if you don't, you will be financially liable for that subject. If you withdraw after the Census Date due to special circumstances beyond your control, you may apply for withdrawal without financial penalty.

Last date for withdrawal without academic penalty: when you withdraw from a subject after this date you will receive a Fail grade (WF) for the subject.

International commencing students: if you are an international student, commencing with JCU, you may incur financial penalties if - after accepting your offer - you withdraw from your course. For detailed information, refer to your student contract and the International tuition fee policy.
