Jeremy Corbyn will today claim Labour is on the “cusp” of winning 20 more seats in Scotland that would help propel him into Downing Street.

He will tell the party’s Scottish conference in Dundee that Labour is “very much alive and kicking” and “back” in Scotland after being written off before last year’s snap general election.

Although he is expected to admit that Labour lost, he will claim the party is “no longer just an opposition” and was “preparing to go into government” despite another election not being scheduled until 2022.

Mr Corbyn is also expected to claim the Tories’ Brexit plans are “in chaos” and attack Donald Trump’s administration for its “racism, misogyny and dangerous belligerence.”...
