Phoenix-based rock band Anarbor had to share some sad news with fans over the weekend, as the group's drummer, 17-year-old Tyler Hedstrom, died by suicide earlier that week. The band took to Facebook on Saturday (July 29) to make the heartbreaking announcement.

"On behalf of Anarbor and The Hedstrom Family, we regret to inform you that Tyler, our drummer and friend, took his life this week. We are devastated," they wrote. "Tyler was 17, a gifted and magnificent musician and an inspiration to all of us. He was changing how we approached our live show, how we approached music and most of all how we approached people. You made us a better band, you made all of us better people."

The Anarbor guys teamed up with Hedstrom's family to start a GoFundMe page to help cover the costs of the funeral and a memorial benefit concert in the band's home state of Arizona, as well as donations to causes for suicide prevention. On the fundraising page -- which already raised more than $11,000 of the $15,000 in the first two days of the campaign -- the band announced that Hedstrom's funeral will be held on Aug. 5 at San Tan Mountain View Funeral Home in Queen Creek, Arizona, with the visitation taking place at 11 a.m. local time and the service at 12:30 p.m.

Acknowledging the recent losses of Soundgarden's Chris Cornell and Linkin Park's Chester Bennington to suicide, the band also said in their message that "the music community has been hit by this tragedy way too often," adding that they will be working to help fans who may be dealing with similar thoughts by spreading Hedstrom's story. They also announced the cause's official hashtag, #forTyTy, for fans to connect on social media.

"Tyler, we miss you, everyone does, you became part of another family when you joined the band, a music family that stretches across the world, and we are all here for you," Anarbor continued in their announcement. "You don’t know this yet, but you’re helping so many people right now with your story, it’s invaluable the effect you had on us, your family and people around you, and this won’t stop, you’re here forever with us."
