Jacob Sartorius is the teen dream -- at the fresh age of 14, he has already risen to fame by way of the internet and with the release of each new song he's closer to the dream of pop stardom. But despite the singer’s strong online following and popular singles, his music proves that he still gets hung up on love like everybody else.

On Thursday (July 6) Sartorius released the new video for “Hit Me Back,” his latest song featuring hip-hop artist Blackbear. In the clip for the lovelorn single, Sartorius explains to his friends that summer couldn't be passing any slower because he just can’t get seem to get a certain girl off his mind. 

"The inspiration for the song came while I was at the studio one day and my sister called," Sartorius tells Billboard. "I told her I had to go and she was like, 'Yo, you never hit me back earlier.’ I told Blackbear, ‘My sister is freaking out because I never hit her back,’ and he was just like, ‘Lets make that a song,’ so we flipped it into it being about a girl."

Throughout the fun clip, the afternoon slips by as Sartorius rides around town seated shotgun next to Blackbear, hangs in the studio and tries to keep a positive attitude while he waits for just one reply from the object of his affection.

To follow up “Hit Me Back,” Sartorius said that he's set to release additional new music later this year.
