Finnish metal five-piece Nightwish scores a career best as its fifth album "Once" hits No. 1 on European Top 100 Albums after two weeks at No. 4. After reaching platinum certification for 30,000 shipments in Finland, where it's No. 1 for a second week, the album moves 2-1 in Germany and 6-4 in Switzerland. It's also top five in Sweden and Norway.

The band formed as a three-piece in 1996 and signed to Spinefarm the following year. The band is signed to Spinefarm in Finland and to German metal label Nuclear Blast for most of Europe. "Once" includes the single "Nemo," which reached No. 19 on Eurochart Hot 100 Singles in early June. "Nemo" reached platinum status in Finland for 10,000 shipments. The next single from the album, "Wish I Had An Angel," will feature in the film "Alone In The Dark," a thriller starring Christian Slater and Tara Reid due for U.S. release Oct. 10.

The other big achiever in the new pan-European top 10 is "A Grand Don't Come For Free" (Locked On/679) by British rapper Mike Skinner, aka the Streets. Its 28-9 rise in its seventh chart week is prompted by an 8-1 jump in the United Kingdom. The album's first appearance at No. 1 there is in turn fuelled by strong airplay for the set's second single "Dry Your Eyes," which is releases at retail July 19. "Grand" is also No. 3 in Ireland. The act concludes its North American tour tonight (Thursday) in Washington and on Saturday (3) in Atlanta, before beginning a run of European festival shows July 15 in Genoa, Italy.

Nelly Furtado's "Folklore" (Dreamworks) takes a 33-18 hike on the aggregate albums chart thanks to her live and promotional work around the Euro 2004 soccer championship in Portugal, which concludes on Sunday. The set, which previously reached No. 12 in April, is back up 11-4 in Portugal and 13-4 in Germany while the single "Força," the official song of the tournament, is up 15-9 in Germany.

Also in Germany, the local-language version of the soundtrack to the Abba musical "Mamma Mia" (Universal) enters at No. 3, for a No. 18 start on Top 100 Albums.

O-Zone's "Dragostea Din Tei" (Media Services/Time/Vale) tops Eurochart Hot 100 Singles for a third week, continuing at No. 1 in Germany, France, Austria, Belgium and Switzerland. The track also moves 2-1 in Norway. The top new entry, at No. 7, is "Obviously" (Universal) by British boy band McFly. It's their second straight U.K. No. 1, selling 42,000 in its opening week there.

Finally, OutKast's "Roses" (Arista) takes a massive 90-10 jump on the Eurochart, after entering the British chart at No. 4.
