Irish rock act the Pogues will stage a brief reunion tour, its first since 2001, in the United Kingdom, beginning Dec. 13 with a two-night stand at Glasgow's Academy. According to the official Web site of frontman Shane MacGowan, the group will also play Newcastle, Birmingham, Manchester and Dublin. A Dec. 20-21 stand is slated for London's Brixton Academy.

The Pogues are perhaps best known for their 1987 album "If I Should Fall From Grace With God." MacGowan split from the group in 1991, with the late Joe Strummer helping out on the road in support of 1993's "Waiting For Herb." The Pogues' last studio album was 1995's "Pogue Mahone," while MacGowan's latest release was 2002's Red Ink set "Across the Broad Atlantic: Live On Paddy's Day" with the band the Popes.

As previously reported, fans of the notoriously hard drinking, drug-abusing MacGowan have started a petition on his Web site, calling for the removal of manager Joey Cashman and the boycott of MacGowan's upcoming shows. Among the 3,000 supporters of the action is the performer's father, Maurice MacGowan.
