Nintendo and “Despicable Me” animators Illumination Entertainment are teaming up to produce an animated feature based on the “Super Mario Bros.” game franchise.
Shigeru Miyamoto and Chris Meledandri will produce the film which will star Mario as the main character and be set in the world of the games.
Universal Pictures and Nintendo will co-finance the film with Universal distributing it worldwide. The partnership was announced today by Tatsumi Kimishima.
