Often, homeowners in the process of making changes or improvements to their property look for a "WOW" piece or two to add special interest to their living spaces. Something unique, one-of-a-kind, on trend, maybe something old that can be or has been made new again.

Jason Butler, a Huntsville home builder who does a lot of work in the Old Town and Five Points historic districts near downtown Huntsville has long appreciated architectural history and the architectural details of old buildings.

Recently Jason, his wife Christa and their eleven children have opened Preservation Co. at 1214 Meridian St. The family lovingly spent a year refreshing a piece of Huntsville history, making it suitable to showcase an inventory of old doors, windows, interesting corbels, doorknobs, mantels, light fixtures crafted from iron pieces or old pulleys and ceiling tins.

Jason made multiple trips throughout the country amassing the inventory that is now available for purchase at Preservation Co. The beautiful old building on Meridian Street was the ideal location for this purpose as it is close to downtown Huntsville, has adequate space for parking and provides ease in handling large pieces that are ready for pick-up or delivery.

Preservation Co. is a very good fit for a building with so much history. Built in 1927 the structure was originally used as a community center and mill store for Lincoln Mill, one of five original cotton mills located in Madison County. The building was last home to Alpha Estate and Auction Sales where it was an antique store, office, auction site and sometimes used to stage plays for the public.

The new Preservation Co. is based on Jason Butler's passion to see architectural salvage pieces saved and be lovingly used in "Building with History." Even in the most contemporary design scheme can benefit by adding an architectural antique to add character and pizazz. An old counter makes a unique kitchen island. An old door can become a headboard or a tabletop.

A trip to Preservatin Co. may inspire you to find something special to make your office or home a cool space. To learn more visit the website PreservationCo.com or find time to walk through history and see Jason Butler and family's cool space.
