New species of extinct marsupial lion discovered in Australia

A team of Australian scientists has discovered a new species of marsupial lion which has been extinct for at least 19 million years. The findings, published in the Journal of Systematic Palaeontology, are based on fossilised remains of the animal’s skull, teeth, and humerus (upper arm bone) found by University of New South Wales (UNSW) scientists in the Riversleigh World Heritage Area of remote north-western Queensland.

Safeguarding for schools and teachers

Examples of hate crime and terrorist attacks are rising in the UK and Europe. In 2015-2016, there were 7,631 referrals to the Prevention programme, which aims to stop people being drawn into terrorism. A quarter of these referrals were under-15s. Never before has there been a greater need for schools to present a clear narrative to promote community cohesion. Schools and teachers need resources to help protect and safeguard young people from radical ideas.

Mayor of London Office tours tech startup colwiz

The Deputy Mayor of London was in Karachi this week as part of a regional tour organised by the Mayor’s International Business Programme, a £5 million scheme mentoring London’s leading tech start-ups. colwiz was accepted onto the programme in October this year and has joined the tour across Mumbai, Bangalore and Karachi.
