Sophie Turner has confirmed our worst fear: “Game of Thrones” Season 8 won’t premiere until 2019. The actress behind Sansa Stark revealed to Variety that HBO’s Emmy-winning fantasy epic will skip 2018 and debut its six-episode final season sometime in 2019. HBO has not confirmed a release date for Season 8, but the show was widely expected to return in either 2019 or late 2018 considering production on the show will last through summer 2018.

The Deadpool star has signed on to star in Legendary’s live-action Pokemon movie, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Reynolds joins Justice Smith, who will be seen in the upcoming Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and Big Little Lies actress Kathryn Newton in the movie, titled Detective Pikachu, based on the gaming franchise.

Rob Letterman (Goosebumps) is directing the project, which is due to start shooting mid-January in London.

Jacob Tremblay, Christopher Lloyd, Kenan Thompson Join Voice Cast of Lani Pixels Movie
Lani Pixels has signed Jacob Tremblay, Christopher Lloyd, Kenan Thompson, and Mel Brooks as the voice cast in an untitled 3D animated feature directed by Kim Pagel.

Thomas Pagel, who co-founded Lani Pixels with Kim Pagel, is producing with Jason Mirch co-producing. Verité Entertainment’s René Veilleux and Donald Roman Lopez are associate producing.

The movie follows a brother and sister as they attempt to rescue their grandfather from supernatural forces that have invaded his isolated island. Guided by a charming Irish rogue, the siblings end up on a dangerous journey filled with magic and mystery. Production and additional casting are currently underway.

“It is an honor to be working with such a talented and dynamic cast on this project,” said Kim Pagel. “While this has been a passion project for many years, the themes of family unity and courage in the face of adversity are particularly important these days.”

Eddie the Eagle director Dexter Fletcher has replaced Bryan Singer on the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody after the director unexpectedly disappeared from the film's London set for a number of days and was ultimately fired from the project. Fox made the announcement Wednesday. 

The studio let Singer go from the project Dec. 4.

Sources said at the time the decision came amid an escalating clash between Singer and Bohemian Rhapsody star Rami Malek and was caused by the filmmaker going missing from set that led to a production shutdown Dec. 1. James Mangold to Direct Patty Hearst Drama, Elle Fanning in Talks (Exclusive)
James Mangold is following up “Logan” by tackling Patty Hearst, Variety has learned.

The director has come on board a still untitled adaptation of Jeffrey Toobin’s best-selling “American Heiress.” The film will not share the book’s title, but it will draw on Toobin’s reporting as it delves into Hearst’s kidnapping by the Symbionese Liberation Army and re-emergence as a member of the left-wing terrorist group. Elle Fanning is in talks to play Hearst, the Berkeley sophomore turned unlikely counter-culture revolutionary. Twentieth Century Fox is backing the project through its Fox 2000 label.

The screenplay was written by Larry Karaszewski & Scott Alexander and Mangold. Mangold will produce the film along with Nina Jacobsen and Brad Simpson of Colorforce.

Leading art-house film director, Kim Ki-duk is expected to be fined in a case of assault against an actress.

The Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office said on Thursday that it has indicted Kim on a summary offense with a penalty of $4,570 (KRW5 million), according to the Yonhap news agency.

The incident occurred in 2013 during the filming of Kim’s award-winning film “Moebius.” The actress, whose identity has been withheld, claims that Kim slapped her in the face while shooting the movie and forced her to take part in an unscripted, violent sex scene. She withdrew from the production and was replaced by Lee Eun-woo.
