The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) posted a sequence of photos showing young wolves from the Walla Walla pack running and playing on Feb. 9, 2016.

According to the ODFW's video, "Chasing and play-wrestling helps young wolves develop conditioning (muscles), coordination, social skills and tactics to be used later in life."

ODFW's Walla Walla pack timeline indicates the pack was first discovered in 2011 and produced at least four pups. The pack is known to wander northeast Oregon near the Walla Walla river drainage.

Oregon Wildlife commissioners last fall removed wolves from the state's endangered species list. But wolves in the western part of the state are still protected under the federal Endangered Species Act.
