Masks on protesters evading cops should be deemed illegal (Letter to the editor)

In recent demonstrations in downtown Portland, some people have been seen with their faces covered, or wearing other disguises.  I can see no reason that they would do that, other than to hide their identities while committing illegal acts.

Oregon should pass a law forbidding the covering one's face in public if it is done to evade police. California has such a code on the books already, making it a crime to wear mask or disguise if the purpose to go undetected by police.

If these people had to show their faces, perhaps they would be less inclined to set fires, break windows, etc.
