WET start to the week in the DC area

Rainfall totals through Wednesday evening

Don’t forget the umbrella and rain jacket at home this week! A series of disturbances will move into the Mid Atlantic starting with a warm frontal boundary tonight into Monday morning. Expect a wet morning commute with rainfall totals tomorrow up to a half of an inch. Rain should taper off after Noon but a few thunderstorms might be possible with the cold front tomorrow afternoon.

On Tuesday, a wave of low pressure will ride along the cold front that will settle just to our south. Rain, and possibly heavy rain, will move along the boundary towards our region. The best chance will be south of DC from Fredericksburg to Southern Maryland, with less of a chance farther northwest such as Frederick, MD and points NW.

An upper-level low will continue to the rain chances Wednesday and Thursday. Conditions should finally dry out by the end of the work week Friday and remain dry into the start of the Memorial Day Weekend Saturday. Some questions remain in the forecast to round out the weekend but for now we're forecast highs near 80 with a chance for a few storms.
