A cloudy start to the weekend with showers possible through this afternoon. The chance for rain through mid-day is northwest of D.C. However, the metro could experience a shower around noon today. A warm front moves through this morning supplying our first shower chance and an increase in temperatures. Daytime highs today will range from the 40s (western MD) to low 60s (southeast MD). If you are heading out to the Thanksgiving Parade in Silver Spring, I would suggest the jacket with a hood. Any rain that does fall through this afternoon should be relatively light.
By tonight, a cold front moves through the DMV. This will cause another round of showers to develop mainly after midnight. As the front passes there could be a line of gusty winds. A Wind Advisory has been issued for the higher terrain to our west, but could expand east. Peak wind gusts through Sunday afternoon could reach 40 mph, with higher gusts in the higher elevations. In addition to the rain and wind, temperatures fall behind the front. By Sunday afternoon, temperatures should fall into the low 50s.
A chilly start to the work week on Monday with a high around 49 degrees in the metro. We can expect milder conditions by Tuesday as an area of high pressure moves off the coast and returns a southerly flow. As we look ahead to Thanksgiving Day, it appears to be mainly dry and chilly with temperatures in the upper 40s to low 50s. One computer model tries to develop an area of low pressure to our south. This should be monitored over the next couple days, but it does appear to be a mainly quiet mid- to late week, including Black Friday.
