Actor Angad Bedi’s making most of the lease of life Amitabh Bachchan and Tapsee Pannu’s Pink afforded him 2016 to stay afloat in the industry. First came Amazon’s Inside Edge, and now this: Angad will soon star with two of Bollywood’s biggest stars, Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, in Tiger Zinda Hai.
In a freewheeling chat with Hindustan Times, Bedi talks about his Tiger Zinda Hai role, rumoured girlfriend Richa Chadha and much more.
Excerpts from the interview.
You have been saying that Tiger Zinda Hai will be your big break in Bollywood. What do you play in the film.
My character’s name is Major Namit Khanna: It’s a positive role that oozes attitude. Namit is confident and his mind is very clear. He is an extremely sharp and alert individual.
What is your character’s equation with Salman and Katrina’s roles?
I have only shot for 20 days till now, so these are still early days. I have another 40 days to go. It is a different Tiger this time. It’s a very real film. The action sequences will be of international standards as the action team has worked on Christopher Nolan’s films like Dunkirk.
You have worked with Richa Chadha in Inside Edge and have also been spotted with her quite often in public. What is the equation that you share with her? Is there a romantic relationship growing there?
Richa is a fab co star. She’s one actor who helps you. Her energy is very positive. She can make her co actors comfortable. She’s become a friend after we worked together in Inside Edge. I hope someone soon casts us together In a comedy film..She’s got great comedy timing.
How was it working with Salman Khan?
Salman bhai is a very affectionate person. If he likes you, he will make sure that he goes out of his way to look after you. He is a boys’ boy. We get along very well. He is a treasure trove of stories, and Its simply wonderful to listen to him once he starts talking his experiences in cinema and life.
How has life changed after Pink - personally and professionally?
Pink was the film where I did consolidate. I will always be indebted to Shoojit da, Ronnie Lahiri and Mr Bachchan for it. It is after seeing Pink that Ali Abbas Zafar thought of casting me In Tiger Zinda Hai. Post pink I’m in a good space. People are taking interest in my work now. It’s a good feeling to be accepted in the industry.
