It's September, which means it’s time for Oktoberfest, the annual celebration of the marriage between King Ludwig I and Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen.
While Oktoberfest celebrations today focus more on beer, traditional German foods and live music, that doesn’t mean there aren’t places where you can get a more immersive experience. Mount Angel, a Bavarian-themed town just outside Salem, is widely considered to host one of the best Oktoberfests in the U.S. And one state away, Leavenworth, Washingon, has arguably the best Oktoberfest in the region, running for three weekends in a row.

13th Annual Bend Oktoberfest! | Sept. 15-16
The 13th annual Bend Oktoberfest will take over downtown Bend with more than 20 different beers, Bavarian wines, food, wiener dog races, a yodeling contest and more. The fundraiser benefits the Downtown Bend Business Association. 17-ounce beer refills are $5.
