Oregon-brewed light beers and sours had a strong year at the 2017 Great American Beer Festival.
The prestigious festival awarded 17 medals this year to beers brewed in Oregon, as well as an additional small brewery of the year award. The medals include seven bronze, three silver and seven golds, according to the festival.

Alesong Brewing & Blending
Eugene's Alesong Brewing & Blending brought home a gold medal for their Touch of Brett Mosaic in GABF's Brett Beer category.

Base Camp Brewing Co.
Southeast Portland's Base Camp Brewing Co. snagged a gold medal for their Rye Saison in the specialty saison category.

Breakside Brewery & Taproom
After a two-year hiatus, Oregon finally brought home a medal in the American-Style India Pale Ale category. Oregon brought home the gold in both 2013 (Barley Brown's Pallet Jack IPA) and 2014 (Breakside IPA).
This year, Breakside Brewery's IPA took home a bronze medal in the American-Style India Pale Ale category.

Breakside Brewery & Taproom's other awards
Breakside brought home three other awards at the 2017 Great American Festival. They earned three bronze medals for Stay West, an American-style strong pale ale, the Passionfruit Sour Ale, a fruited American-style sour ale, and their Rye Curious?, a rye beer.
