Mt. Hood Meadows Beer and Cider Fest canceled

The 50th anniversary Mt. Hood Meadows Beer and Cider Fest has been canceled.

After originally being postponed due to the threat of fire in the Gorge and on Mt. Hood, organizers have decided to cancel the event because of the forecast, according to a press release.

"The forecast high of 40 degrees really puts a chill on the event, and the rain and snow is also a dampener," said Dave Tragethon, vice president of communications at Mt. Hood Meadows, in the release. "We just don't feel that our guests would want to brave this kind of weather to socialize and fully enjoy a festival."

The cold weather will also end the Meadows summer season, with the ski area suspending chair lift rides and deck barbecues this weekend.

While the festival has been canceled, the five-course, fall harvest brewmaster's dinner will continue as planned. The menu, from executive chef Daniel Dehay, will be paired with Double Mountain beers and served in the Alpenstube restaurant. Tickets can be found at SkiHood.com.
