The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), in cooperation with Tillamook County, published for public review and comment the Cape Meares Road Relocation Project Environmental Assessment (EA). Details of the EA and how to submit comments and attend the Public Open House are as follows: Project Location: Northern Coast Range in Tillamook County, Oregon, approximately 5.7 miles west of Tillamook. Lead Agency and File Number: FHWA, file number OR TILLAMOOK B780(1) Purpose of the EA: The EA is part of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process, which considers the beneficial and adverse effects of federal, federally-funded, and/or federally-permitted projects on the quality of the human environment. This EA evaluates a No Build Alternative that would not result in any improvements, and a Preferred Alternative that would realign the closed section of Cape Meares Loop Road and reopen this section of the Three Capes Scenic Route. Project Description: FHWA, in cooperation with Tillamook County, proposes to restore service on Cape Meares Loop Road and reopen this section of the Three Capes Scenic Route that provides visitor access to Cape Meares National Wildlife Refuge and Cape Meares State Scenic Viewpoint and Lighthouse. The project proposes to construct a bypass around a historic landslide area that closed an approximate 1.5-mile section of Cape Meares Loop Road located between the communities of Oceanside and Cape Meares on January 11, 2013. PROPOSED RECREATION FEE FOR SANDY RIVER DELTA The Forest Service is seeking public input on a proposed recreation fee for the Sandy River Delta, a popular site located near the western edge of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. The proposal is to charge a daily, per-vehicle standard amenity fee of $5.00 for use of the Sandy River Delta facilities.
