Motorists petition High Court over new car inspection fees
Sections of Ugandans have filed a suit in the High Court protesting inspection fees motorists will have to pay to a firm SGS Automotive Uganda Ltd to check the mechanical condition of vehicles and motorcycles.
The petitioners claim that tender awarded to the firm did not follow the procedure of competitive bidding.
They also accuse government of hiring this firm yet it has sound and functioning inspection centres claiming the deal smacks of fraud.
However, the ministry of works and transport says the deal was lawful and transparent.
