38 minutes ago | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

AMC Pitches $5 Monthly Ad-Free Streaming Tier Through Comcast

29 June 2017 6:30 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

AMC Networks is effectively turning its flagship AMC channel into a premium network — and instead of going direct-to-consumer online, it wants to stay in pay-tv operators’ good graces by offering a $5-per-month zero-advertising streaming package to current cable customers.

The programmer has reached an initial “soft launch” deal for AMC Premiere with Comcast, which is selling the premium tier to Xfinity TV customers nationwide starting Thursday.

The service includes ad-free versions of AMC original shows like “The Walking Dead” and “Into the Badlands” — available at the same time the episodes are broadcast live. In addition, AMC Premiere will feature original exclusive content including a continually refreshed slate of movies chosen to complement current in-season programming; past seasons of original series; first-looks at series teasers and trailers; uncut and bonus scenes and episodes; and exclusive interviews with cast members and showrunners.

There are some things you might know about Frank Dillane and some you might not. A lot of people know him as the troubled young man on Fear The Walking Dead, which has yet to gain the notoriety of its parent show, The Walking Dead. Dillane plays Nick, a former, or possibly current addict that is one of the first to actually take note of the fact that the dead aren’t staying still any longer. Of course for all he knows this is one bad trip and he could be imagining everything. But guess what happens when he gets sober?

3.5 Burning In Water, Drowning In Flame

Burning In Water, Drowning In Flame is a very busy episode, intercutting between four storylines. Each story is replete with its own odd character pairings, of which first and foremost is Daniel and Strand. These are two people who shouldn’t be in a car together, much less road-tripping their way through Mexico’s apocalyptic wasteland. Theirs is the least effective pairing, if only because Strand is just so unlikable. Remember when Strand was the very definition of cool in season one, a mellifluous patter wrapped in an expensive suit? His fall from »

In the wake of last week‘s Daniel-centric Fear the Walking Dead, Sunday’s installment accelerated almost all of the series’ plots, revealing whether Madison could really handle maniacal mama’s boy Troy as well as she insisted she could, bringing Nick and Luciana, as well as Jake and Alicia, to turning points in their relationships, dropping Strand into a predicament that was arguably as dire as his near-execution by Dante, and introducing a whole new threat.
