Long time user, ads are getting intrusive
I've used IMDB long before there were smart phones and apps. As imdb has gotten more popular they've have increased site-wide advertising and it is getting to the point that I have to click around ads on every page I visit, and that's not mentioning the full page, pop up ads that are equally obnoxious. Don't get me wrong - it's great to have a single place to visit to see what's new or coming soon and the huge DB of movies and TV shows is invaluable. However, with IMDbs growth there is now an influx of useless reviews as a lot of new/popular shows seem to include tons of either one or ten star reviews.. So I can't really trust the ratings any more, which is a major bummer. I also dearly miss the forums that were deleted/purged because people can't play nice online and IMDb couldn't effectively moderate them.
Best informational app I've found
The IMDB app is the best most informative app and web site that I've found by far. It has good fairly complete information on just about every movie, tv show, actor and actress out there. Even though I don't always agree with all of the ratings or reviewers, and I'm sure most don't agree with mine either, it gives you solid information about any of the above and more. Many of their articles are top notch. And very few full page ads that take up all of your time when looking something up.
Siracusa
This was an excellent movie with superb acting and directing. It was taken from a true story about a Jewish family living in Iran at the time of revolution when the country was in turmoil.
It could happen anywhere. And it could happen overnight in the blink of an eye.
This was a wealthy man who helped less fortunate people by providing them with jobs and training.
When the revolution occurred some of these same people turned against the family. The husband was arrested and tortured. The wife didn't know if he was alive or dead.
