The Conflict, Crime and Violence Results Initiative (CCVRI) Resources

In 2012 one of the Small Arms Survey’s long-standing donors, DFID, set up the Conflict, Crime and Violence Results Initiative (CCVRI). This new venture represents an attempt by DFID to focus on the results of its work in developing countries. Based on an excellent track record of collaboration, DFID approached the Small Arms Survey to be part of the CCVRI. Other organizations were also approached with the CCVRI now boasting expertise from the leading organizations in the fields of conflict, security and justice.

The CCVRI provides assistance to DFID country offices through a Help Desk function which facilitates direct and customized support to country offices as they endeavour to improve measurement of results in local contexts. The CCVRI Help Desk is able to provide written papers and comments to tight timelines, as well as provide either virtual or in-country support on discrete pieces of work.

In addition to responding to Help Desk requests, the organizations involved in the CCVRI are developing guidance and good practice guides on a range of key issues, including: using perception surveys in conflict and security programmes, developing robust theories of change, and innovative methods in monitoring and evaluation. The full set of products is intended to support DFID country offices and their partners to develop better measures of programme results in difficult conflict and fragile environments.
