Young, diverse members of an organization started by General John "Black Jack" Pershing in 1894 learn about his life and achievements which culminated in his victorious command of the American Expeditionary Forces in WWI. Pershing accomplished much in his life as a military leader, an instructor, a creator of student groups and American cemeteries and memorials. Importantly, he led as a soldier and diplomat in different multi-cultural settings from Native Americans on the frontier to the Muslim Moro tribes in the Philippines, from Cuba's San Juan Hill with Teddy Roosevelt to chasing Pancho Villa in Mexico, and assuring the Allied forces' victory in WWI. Pershing's nickname, Black Jack derived from his high regard for Buffalo Soldiers who fought in the segregated American Armies of the time. Written by Joe Hartnett
