The sun has risen again on “Baywatch.”
The television series, which ran first on NBC in 1989 and then in syndication from 1991 to 2001, is returning next summer as a full-length feature film. A trailer for the film dropped today.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will play lifeguard captain Mitch Buchannon, a role originated by David Hasselhoff.
Zac Efron portrays Olympic-swimmer-turned-bad-boy Matt Brody (an amalgamation of David Charvet and David Chokachi’s characters), while Kelly Rohrbach will splash down as C.J. Parker (famously played by Pamela Anderson).
The “Baywatch” TV series resurrected the career of ’80s action star Hasselhoff, and made Anderson an international sex symbol.
After moving to syndication, “Baywatch” was touted as “the most popular show in the world” with a reported audience of 1 billion viewers.
The show’s popularity spawned “Baywatch Nights” — a beach-based crime show featuring Hasselhoff, and “Baywatch Hawaii,” where a young Jason Momoa played an aspiring lifeguard.

"It's up to us to restore the Baywatch brand." Oh boy, here we go. Paramount has unveiled the teaser trailer for the Baywatch movie, yes, a movie based on the TV show about lifeguards at a beach. As expected, this is packed full of beautiful people. Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron star as the two lifeguards who butt heads on the Baywatch squad. The rest of the big cast includes Alexandra Daddario, Priyanka Chopra, Pamela Anderson, Ilfenesh Hadera, Charlotte McKinney, Kelly Rohrbach, David Hasselhoff, and Hannibal Buress. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson premiered the first official trailer for director Seth Gordon's adaptation of the Nineties TV show Baywatch on Thursday. Johnson stars alongside Zac Efron in the modern take on the beach-set series that starred Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff.
The clip opens by highlighting Johnson's take on Hasselhoff's classic role as Mitch Buchannon, the lead lifeguard of the Los Angeles County Lifeguards who takes his job and team seriously. His boss confronts him about how city council is cutting back funding for their team and that they'll need to rebrand Baywatch. »

Muscles, red swimsuits and raunchy charisma — the first teaser trailer for “Baywatch,” released Thursday morning, supplies everything one would expect.
“Our team is the elite of the elite,” Dwayne Johnson says in a voiceover over footage of him swimming out to save a burning ship. “We’re the heart and soul of this very beach. We protect what other people don’t want to protect. And we go above and beyond.”
In a bit of meta commentary, Zac Efron’s character arrives on the scene in the trailer to help recoup the “Baywatch brand.” He and Johnson seem to butt heads at first, but ultimately team up to save the beach.
Based on early footage screened at CinemaCon in April, Variety reporters wrote that the film is “a ’21 Jump Street’ style re-interpretation of a venerable television franchise, one that’s not afraid to send up its source material.”

If Hollywood is going to continue down the remake route, we’d much prefer properties with little attachment to that can be improved on — or, in this specific case, poked fun at. One of next summer’s major comedy features in a big-screen re-do of Baywatch, the show that was able to come up with enough scenarios for a whopping eleven seasons. Over 15 years after ending, Paramount is now bringing it back in feature form and the first trailer has arrived today.
Led by Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron, it comes from director Seth Gordon, who was able to conjure some laughs with Horrible Bosses. The first trailer certainly ups the action level from the series, but the comedy seems quite hit-or-miss. Also starring Alexandra Daddario, Kelly Rohrbach, Ilfenesh Hadera, Jon Bass, Priyanka Chopra, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, David Hasselhoff, and Pamela Anderson, check out the trailer below.

Get ready for some serious eye candy.
Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson debuted the highly anticipated Baywatch trailer Thursday, and it's everything you'd expect from a movie starring this year's "Sexiest Man Alive" and heartthrob Zac Efron. The semi-nsfw trailer features plenty of shots of the duo shirtless in those famous red shorts, as well as actress Alexandra Daddario and model Kelly Rohrbach also showing off their impressively toned bodies.
The Baywatch reboot stars Johnson in the Mitch Buchanan role (originally made famous by David Hasselhoff) and Efron as bad boy Matt Brody, who's brought in as a PR move to "restore the Baywatch brand." Judging by the trailer, the super tan Efron plays a character similar to his popular Neighbors role, down to the buff body and frat boy-style antics. Together, Mitch and Matt uncover a local criminal plot that threatens the future of the Bay.

Are you ready to see Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron running in slow motion on the beach together? If you answered yes, then you're in luck, because the first trailer for the upcoming R-rated Baywatch movie has finally landed online. This is a very different kind of Baywatch than those who grew up watching the show in the 90s are used to, but there are still lots of women running around in swimsuits, only this time they are joined by The Rock and some Nsfw comedy. So there'll surely be a lot more cursing and possibly even some nudity.

Winter isn’t even officially here, but Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron are getting us ready for summer with the first official trailer for “Baywatch.” Released by Paramount Pictures, the first sneak peek of the R-rated movie includes tan, toned and gorgeous looking actors in their classic red swimsuits.
This time around Johnson stars as Mitch Buchanan, described as a by-the-books lifeguard who teams up with hothead Matt (Efron) in order to stop an oil tycoon from destroying their beach. The film also features Alexandra Doddario as Summer, originally portrayed by Nicole Eggert in the TV series, Priyanka Chopra as the villain, Ilfenesh Hadera as Mitch’s love interest Stephanie, and Kelly Rohrbach as C.J. Parker, Pamela Anderson’s previous role. David Hasselhoff and Anderson will also have special guest appearances.

The sexy beachside adventure moved up one week from May 19, 2017 to May 26, 2017, which falls on Memorial Day weekend.
