Noah review: The Bible Episode IV: A New Hope

7 hours ago | www.flickfilosopher.com | See recent FlickFilosopher news »

A Biblical action disaster fantasy epic that is completely bonkers, endlessly entertaining, and actually religious in that inspiring-and-instructional way that you don’t need to take as literal truth to see the wisdom of. I’m “biast” (pro): mostly love Darren Aronofsky’s movies, love Russell Crowe

I’m “biast” (con): I worry about people who think this is based on a for-real actually-true story

I have read one of the many versions of the source material (and I recognize it as an important work of literature but nothing else)

(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)

If Sunday school — or as it was for me, Wednesday after-school — had been this much fun, eight-year-old me probably wouldn’t have gotten into arguments with the nuns about how silly it all was: I would have just shut up and went, Wow o wow o wow. Cuz Darren Aronofsky »

Brad Pitt's 'Fury' and '22 Jump Street' win Sony Pictures CinemaCon preview

27 March 2014 12:40 AM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Las Vegas - Sony Pictures took center stage Wednesday afternoon at the 2014 CinemaCon as the Culver City based studio previewed the rest of its 2014 slate.  Unlike earlier studio presentations, Sony discussed each released briefly before playing one long feature with previews of all their new films.  There were two pictures that stood out above all the rest: Chris Miller and Phil Lord's "22 Jump Street" and David Ayers' World War II thriller "Fury." "22 Jump Street" is, of course, the sequel to the hit comedy "21 Jump Street" and Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum are back as mismatched undercover partners Schmidt and Jenko respectively.  The film's early trailers have teased that Lord and Miller (who are coming off "The Lego Movie") haven't lost a step, but the footage Sony played today?  No joke, "22" has a chance to be better than the original. You probably already know that Schmidt and Jenko are now heading to college, »

CinemaCon 2014: First Trailer Shown for ‘The Interview’

27 March 2014 12:25 AM, PDT | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

North Korea will definitely hate us now after this movie.

Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen team up to co-direct their second project after their highly successful film “This is the End.” It also reunites Rogen with James Franco.

Sony Pictures presented a trailer to the audiences of CinemaCon this week.

The hilarious trailer shows that Dave Skylark, a television talk show host and interview, discovers that North Korean Dictator Kim Jong-Un is a big fan of him. So he tries to convince his producer, Aaron Rapoport, to arrange an interview. In a surprising twist, the CIA approaches the news team to assist them to assassinate the dictator, because North Korea has nuclear bomb capabilities.

Even Kim Jong-Un looks like a very laughable character in the movie.

The Interview” is slated for release on October 10.

Over the past year or so, we've seen the end of society come in a variety of ways on the big screen from the outlandish comedic takes courtesy of "This Is The End" and "The World's End," to more grim takes in fare like "World War Z" that sees civilization on the brink of collapse. But in "Goodbye World," the apocalypse is viewed from afar, from the relative comfort of a cabin in Northern California. Adrian Grenier, Ben McKenzie, Mark Webber, Gaby Hoffmann, and rapper Kid Cudi star in the film co-written and directed by Denis Henry Hennelly, that follows a group of estranged friends who reunited at an off the grid cabin, when a mass text triggers a crisis of apocalyptic proportions. Plot: A new theory suggests that Godzilla could explode in a terrifying nuclear breakdown. As humanity thinks of a way to save itself, a new villain also arrives as creatures mutated by the original Oxygen Destroyer begin to take over the land.

This is the end, at least until the next series of films came about a few years later. However, at the time this was expected to be Godzilla’s final bow for Toho until his 50th anniversary in 2004. Why? Because a little place known as Hollywood had acquired the rights for a trilogy of their own Godzilla movies. »

The HeyUGuys Instant Watching Guide – March 17th 2014

So as promised I watched the first episode of From Dusk Till Dawn the series and….pretty damn good actually. It starts off with a scene that will come to mean more as the series wears on and which calls back to the second straight to DVD From Dusk Till Dawn sequel Hangman’s Daughter which dealt with the origins of Salma Hayek’s Santanico Pandemonium head vampire character. After this we are back in sort of familiar territory with Don Johnson playing a suitably grizzled and weary Texas Ranger Earl McGraw on the look out for the Gecko Brothers who are on the lam and headed for Mexico.

Basically when it comes down to it, From Dusk Till Dawn is like a faithful adaptation of the original novel that the first film was based on if that were the case and it wasn’t an early Tarantino script. So »

He's been at it for a while now, having appeared as long ago as 2002, aged only 23 and still fresh from a traumatic childhood in Philadelphia. In parallel with his successful stand-up career, Hart has been courting Hollywood for a decade, appearing in Scary Movie 3 and Judd Apatow's college sitcom Undeclared, and building up lots of goodwill, not to mention some influential friends. He was Jason Segal's roommate for a while, which gave him juice with the Axis of Apatow, and netted him cameos in The 40 Year Old Virgin and This Is The End, plus tasty TV appearances on Party Down, the best »
