Welcome to This Day in Pop Culture History, our daily look at important events, birthdays, and other oddities in pop culture! History is important, and we aim to educate here at Bleeding Cool. So without further ado, here are some things that happened on July 20th, the 201st day of the year.

1903- Ford Motor Company ships its first car.

1940- Billboard releases its first music chart, with Frank Sinatra‘s hit “I’ll Never Smile Again” being the first Number One.

1954- Elvis Presley performs in public for the very first time, in the bed of a truck for a drugstore opening in Memphis.

1969- Neil Armstrong walks on the moon.

Today in gaming history saw the release of Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec (2001), Catwoman (2004), SimCity4: Deluxe (2010),

Today in Pro Wrestling history, in 2008 the WWE held The Great American Bash PPV. This was a notable one because it was the last ever WWE PPV to be rated TV-14.They would transition to their current PG format the next month. The first Diva’s title match was held, with Michelle McCool beating Natalya to become the first ever Diva’s Champion. In the main event, Triple H defeated Edge to retain the WWE Championship. And in 2012, Shine Wrestling held its first event ever. The card featured Reby Sky, Sara Del Rey, and Jazz, among others.

Today’s Birthdays include Edmund Hillary explorer (1919), Cormac McCarthy author (1933), Natalie Wood actress (1938), Carlos Santana musician (1947), Thomas Friedman author (1953), Chris Cornell musician (1964), Josh Holloway actor (1969), Sandra Oh actress (1971), Judy Greer actress (1975), Gisele Bündchen model (1980)

The great Bruce Lee lost his life on this date in 1973.

Today in Disney history, in 1955 the Tomorrowland boats debuted in the Tomorrowland Lagoon.
