Seychelle Gabriel to Star in Rooster Teeth’s ‘Blood Fest’ Horror-Comedy Film

21 hours ago | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Seychelle Gabriel (“Falling Skies,” “The Legend of Korra”) has signed on to play the lead female role in Rooster Teeth’s latest feature film, meta horror-comedy “Blood Fest.”

Gabriel will star opposite Robbie Kay (“Heroes Reborn”) in the movie, which is currently shooting in Austin, Texas.

In “Blood Fest,” Sam (Gabriel) and Dax (Kay) are best friends who, along with the hapless Krill (Jacob Batalon, “Spider-Man: Homecoming”), must outwit the charismatic showman who runs an iconic horror-movie festival — who has a secret, diabolical agenda.

Also joining the “Blood Fest” cast are Chris Doubek (“Boyhood”), Rebecca Wagner and Zachary Levi (“Chuck”) with a cameo role. Previously announced cast members include Barbara Dunkelman (Rooster Teeth’s “Rwby”), Nick Rutherford (“Saturday Night Live,” “Crunch Time”) and Tate Donovan (“The Man in the High Castle”).

The Swedish actor, who has a starring role as the killer clown in Warner Bros.' upcoming film It, will voice the protagonist Moomintroll in the animated movie. Skarsgard is the latest in what is becoming an all-star Swedish voice cast that includes Oscar-winner Alicia Vikander and his father Stellan.

‘The Only Living Boy in New York’ Review: Marc Webb’s Romantic Drama Is a Dumb Male Fantasy that’s Dead on Arrival

9 hours ago | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Five films into his feature directing career, it’s growing increasingly clear that Marc Webb loves telling stories about very special boys and girls. If “(500) Days of Summer” and the two “Amazing” Spider-Man movies didn’t make that obvious enough, Webb’s most recent movie prior to this month was “Gifted,” a schmaltzy (but reasonably satisfying) drama about a brilliant child who’s capable of doing college-level math. Still, as the only thing he’s ever made that doesn’t revolve around a super privileged (or super-powered) white guy who expects the world to fall at his feet, it was something of an anomaly in his body of work.

Unfortunately, “The Only Living Boy in New York” gets Webb back on track in such a big way that it borders on self-parody. Song reference or not, the title alone should be a major red flag, but there’s no way »

NBC Created President Trump — and MSNBC Ratings Prove He’s Been Good for the Company

10 hours ago | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

If NBC didn’t make “The Apprentice,” there would be no President Donald Trump. And if there was no President Donald Trump, there would be no MSNBC ratings bump.

The television butterfly effect has become a popular topic. At San Diego Comic-Con, “The Simpsons” executive producer Matt Selman (somewhat) jokingly pointed out that it was his animated smash that gave Rupert Murdoch the resources to launch Fox News… which created a political environment that eventually also led to a President Trump.

NBCUniversal must appreciate the irony: However America got here, MSNBC – with host Rachel Maddow as its central star – has capitalized on the hunger to make sense of this administration.

It’s only been eight months (just three years and three months until the next presidential election, folks), but the Trump effect has had a tremendous impact on TV ratings. »
