The Problem

The National Mall has been loved to death.

Every year, the National Mall hosts more than 33 million visits. People travel from across the country and around the globe to share the extraordinary view of the American experience. The National Mall is our country’s most visited National Park, reflecting our pride and optimistic character to the world.

But through the years, the National Mall has been loved to death. Years of wear-and-tear and deferred maintenance have taken their toll. Weeds grow where dreams once flourished. Great memorials are in a state of disrepair. Pathways are cracked. Steps are crumbling. Waters are polluted. Basic amenities are lacking.

Despite the best efforts of the dedicated National Park Service, the National Mall doesn’t fully reflect our unstoppable American spirit.

We all have a responsibility to care for America's Front Yard in order to ensure its bright future for generations to come.

Follow our progress and learn more about our active and completed projects to find out how we're fixing the problem.
