Beach Hazard Statement

... Beach hazards statement in effect from Sunday evening through
Monday evening...

The National Weather Service in San Francisco has issued a beach
hazards statement for rip currents, sneaker waves, and large shore
break, which is in effect from Sunday evening through Monday
evening.


* Seas... south swell 3 to 4 feet with a period of 16 to 18
seconds.

* Timing... 11 PM Sunday to 11 PM Monday

* location... south facing beaches such as Santa Cruz and Stinson
Beach.

* Potential impacts... strong rip currents and possible sneaker
waves. Breakers up to 7 to 9 feet.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A beach hazard statement means the potentially dangerous
conditions may exist on specific beaches. These hazards may
include large shore break... strong rip currents... strong longshore
currents and possibly sneaker waves. All of which could be life
threatening. Swimmers should avoid swimming in areas of large
shore break and always swim near a lifeguard. Be sure to always
keep your eyes on the ocean.
