Western Michigan University Cooley Law School will return for its 4th summer foreign study program in Oxford, England during the summer of 2017!

The six credit program will begin Monday, July 3 and end with the completion of exams on Friday, August 4, 2017.

Toronto, Canada

Now approaching its 18th consecutive year in downtown Toronto, Canada, Western Michigan University Cooley Law School returns to the University of St. Michael's College in May and June, 2017.  A maximum of six credits may be earned during the two-3 week sessions. Session one is May 17-June 7, 2017, and session two from June 8-29, 2017.

Educational Objectives

Educational objectives for foreign study are:
1. encounter other cultures and legal theory and systems;
2. attend legal courses that are international and comparative in focus;
3. participate in legal events that familiarize them with the legal system of the host country;
4. gain an international and comparative perspective of the law; and,
5. experience daily living in a different culture.

Our 18th Australia/New Zealand Program, a semester program “Down Under”, is currently underway. This exciting program allows law students to live and study in New Zealand for about five weeks and the remainder of the semester in Australia. The Program began in Hamilton, New Zealand on January 4, 2017 and will conclude in Melbourne, Australia, on April 13, 2017.

Western Michigan University Cooley Law School and the University of Münster's law school, which is the largest law school in Germany, have entered into an agreement to allow WMU-Cooley students and faculty the opportunity to learn and teach as part of a student exchange program. [full story]

WMU-Cooley students have the opportunity to study during Trinity term at the University of Münster, Germany’s largest law school.  The program provides participating students the opportunity to immerse themselves in international law.  All the courses are taught in English.  Contact the International Programs Office for more information.
