Here are the candidates for The Oregonian/OregonLive's high school athlete of the week for Oct. 2-8, as nominated by fans and readers:

Ryann Gregg, Corvallis volleyball: Gregg, a freshman, had 23 kills in each of the Spartans’ two Mid-Willamette Conference victories last week, a 3-1 win over Lebanon and a 3-1 victory at Dallas. She also tallied nine and five digs, respectively, in those games and had an ace in each.

Annika Lovestrand, Oregon Episcopal girls soccer: The junior forward notched a hat trick during the Aardvarks’ 9-0 win over Riverdale on Wednesday. Two nights later, she had a goal and an assist as OES defeated top-ranked Catlin Gabel 2-0, avenging a 3-0 loss from the previous week.

Sidney O’Billovich, Southridge girls soccer: The freshman goalkeeper entered during the second half of Thursday’s match at Jesuit and made three late saves, including one on a penalty kick, to help the Skyhawks hold on for a 2-1 victory. The loss was the first of the season for the Crusaders, the defending 6A champions.

Kyla Pires, South Umpqua girls soccer: Pires, a freshman goalkeeper, tallied 94 saves in a three-game span, two of which were against 4A powers North Bend and Brookings-Harbor. She also had a blocked penalty kick in a 3-1 win over Coquille. She has an 88 percent save rate this season.

Riley Powers, Madison boys soccer: The senior forward scored three goals in the Senators’ 4-3 victory over Cleveland on Tuesday.

Jonny Rodas-Hills, Lakeridge boys soccer: The junior registered a hat trick to help his Pacers blast rival Lake Oswego 7-0 on Tuesday. (Photos from Lakeridge's win)
