Research ethics and good practice in research are integral in promoting research and its operational preconditions.

At the University of Tampere, the Rector of the University ensures that researchers adhere to good practice in research. Nationally good practices in research is supervised by the Finnish Advisory Board on Research Integrity.

The University of Tampere is committed to complying with 

• the guidelines on the responsible conduct of research and procedures for handling allegations of misconduct in Finland, and with 
• the ethical principles of research in the humanities and social and behavioural sciences and proposals for ethical review 

drawn up by the Finnish Advisory Board on Research Integrity.

Ethical reviews

In summer 2010, the University of Tampere set up the Ethics Committee of the Tampere region to provide ethical reviews on non-medical research in the field of the human sciences. 

The Regional Ethics Committee of Tampere University Hospital provides ethical reviews of medical research conducted on humans, human embryos and foetuses in the Pirkanmaa, Kanta-Häme, Päijät-Häme and South Ostrobothnia Hospital Districts.
