WSC Academic DAY 2011 and ICES WORKSHOP 2011

ICES Workshop 2011 (27-28 June 2011)

The workshop organized by the International Cooperation about Standardization (ICES) in 2011 gives a general overview of core topics in standardization research around the world as well as examples for such research stretching from business studies to economics and terminology studies. The workshop includes an overview of the format and structure of existing courses and teaching modules, the intended audience of such modules, a summary of experience with regard to the cooperation between academia (universities, business schools etc.), standards bodies and standards users (industry, consumers etc.).

A special focus is given to the question how standards education tries to meet the practical demands of employers, to currently applied teaching methods and core content components of courses.

WSC Academic Day 2011 (29 June 2011)

The World Standards Cooperation, which is composed of ISO, IEC and ITU, recognizes the fundamental contribution that educational institutions can give on teaching what international standardization is and what can be achieved through it. The three organizations are keen to support these institutions in their efforts and have developed a variety of initiatives contributing to encourage them to share their knowledge, experience and expertise in this domain.

The WSC Academic Day 2011 intends to give continuity to the WSC Academic Week organized in Geneva in 2010.  This initiative aims at promoting the dialogue and at fostering cooperation between academic institutions and the international standards community so that tangible and measurable actions are identified and decisions are taken to achieve agreed objectives in the course of the next twelve months.
