The How I Met Your Mother alum assumed the role of ringleader—top hat, megaphone and crazy eyes to boot—while his husband transformed into a very eerie clown. The couple's son, Gideon, »

This Is Exactly How Much More Netflix Is Going to Start Charging You a Month

12 October 2017 3:00 AM, PDT | POPSUGAR | See recent BuzzSugar news »

Watching Stranger Things and Orange Is the New Black just got more expensive. In an effort to ease rapidly rising content costs, Netflix decided to raise its monthly subscription fee by 10 percent. From now on, the streaming giant will charge its 53 million Us subscribers $10.99 instead of the usual $9.99. Its ultrahigh definition plan will also be affected, rising 17 percent (going from $11.99 to $13.99). In all fairness, an additional few dollars probably won't break the bank for most users, but coupled with the news that Netflix is also losing beloved shows like How I Met Your Mother and 30 Rock, it's even more of a bummer. "From time to time, Netflix plans and pricing are adjusted as we add more exclusive TV shows and movies, introduce new product features and improve the overall Netflix experience to help members find something great to watch even faster," Netflix told The Hollywood Reporter in a statement referencing »

The Saddest TV Shows That Make TV Critics Cry – IndieWire Survey

10 October 2017 10:28 AM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best show currently on TV?” can be found at the end of this post.)

This week’s question: What is the saddest show? Which show makes you cry the most? (Old and current shows are all fair game.)

Daniel Fienberg (@TheFienPrint), The Hollywood Reporter

I just wrote something on this very topic! And I think these are two different questions. Which show makes me cry the most? In the balance across its entire series run? I think the answer has to be “Friday Night Lights.” I’m a sucker for underdog sports stories in general, but “Friday Night Lights” could make me cry in so many different ways, from what happens to Jason Street in the pilot to what Matt Saracen goes through in »

“Atypical” Creator Robia Rashid Signs New Overall Deal at Sony Pictures TV Studios

6 October 2017 12:01 PM, PDT | Women and Hollywood | See recent Women and Hollywood news »

Rashid: Netflix

Robia Rashid is staying put. Deadline reports that the “Atypical” creator and executive producer has signed a new overall deal with the studio behind the Netflix coming-of-age series, Sony Pictures TV.

Sony TV and Rashid first joined forces in 2013, when she signed her first-ever overall deal. The new pact sees her continuing to work on “Atypical,” which debuted on the streaming giant August 11. The dramedy about an 18-year-old on the autism spectrum (Keir Gilchrist, “United States of Tara”) was renewed for a second season in September. Jennifer Jason Leigh co-stars in the series.

The Goldbergs” and “How I Met Your Mother” are among Rashid’s previous credits.

“After working in network TV for a while, I just wanted to do something for myself,” Rashid has said of creating “Atypical.” “I was very aware that more people were being diagnosed with autism, and it was interesting to me that a whole generation of kids were growing up knowing that they were on the spectrum and wanting independence. That point of view seemed so interesting to me — and such a cool way to tell a dating story. You’ve seen the story of somebody looking for independence and looking for love before, but not from that specific point of view. I really was drawn to that,” she explained. “I was a little annoyed because it sounded really hard! I had to do a lot of research.”

The writer and producer got her big break after enrolling in a writing class at Nyu taught by former “Sex and the City” scribe Cindy Chuback. “She liked a spec I wrote and gave it to her agent,” Rashid recalled. The agent scored her an interview for “Will & Grace” and a few days later she found out she got the job.

Atypical” Creator Robia Rashid Signs New Overall Deal at Sony Pictures TV Studios was originally published in Women and Hollywood on Medium, where people are continuing the conversation by highlighting and responding to this story. »
