Noah Hawley, Russo Brothers Team for FX Crime Drama

FX is developing a crime drama that boasts Noah Hawley and Joe and Anthony Russo as executive producers, Variety has confirmed.

The series, currently titled “The Mastermind,” is based on the investigative stories of Atavist Magazine co-founder and CEO Evan Ratliff. It will center on the true story of Paul Le Roux, a computer programmer and criminal cartel boss who became a DEA informant.

The Russo brothers are set to direct the series in addition to executive producing. The brothers are key players in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, having directed both “Captain America: Winter Solider” and “Captain America: Civil War.” They are currently working on the highly-anticipated “Avengers: Infinity War.” Hawley is the showrunner on the critically-acclaimed FX series “Legion” and “Fargo,” with the latter series being nominated for 16 Emmy Awards for its third season. Kevin Hart Lifts Game Show ‘SafeWord’ to MTV’s Second-Biggest Premiere in 2 Years

MTV’s “SafeWord” launch on Thursday gave the network its second highest-rated series premiere in two years. The Terence J-hosted game show earned a 0.7 rating among adults 18-34 for the episode that featured appearances by Kevin Hart and Marlon Wayans. The only recent MTV series with a higher-rated debut was the “Fear Factor” revival in May. The lead-in for “SafeWord” was a new installment of “Nick Cannon Presents: Wild ‘N Out,” which earned a 0.8 in the main demo, making it the highest-rated episode of the series since its return to the network in 2016. David Strathairn Joins The Expanse in 'Significant' Season 3 Role

Alphas alum David Strathairn has closed a deal to join Season 3 of Syfy’s The Expanse, Alcon Television Group announced on Friday.

There's a behind-the-scenes change on Hulu's adaptation of Locke and Key.

Andy Muschietti, who has directed Stephen King's It and Mama, will take over helming duties for the previously announced Scott Derrickson. Derrickson had to exit the Hulu pilot because of a scheduling conflict with TNT's pilot adaptation of Snowpiercer.

Muschietti will also be credited as an exec producer on the Joe Hill comic book project and join his sister and established producer Barbara Muschietti.

Doctor Who” fans will finally find out who their 13th Doctor will be Sunday after the Wimbledon Men’s Final on BBC America.

‘Walking Dead’ Stuntman Dies Following On-Set Accident

Walking Dead” stuntman John Bernecker has died after suffering an accident on the show’s set in Georgia, Variety has confirmed.

According to Coweta County Coroner Richard Hawk, Bernecker died at Atlanta Medical Center on Wednesday evening of blunt force drama due to his fall. His was reportedly placed on a ventilator after the accident, which was turned off on Thursday.

Bernecker fell more than 20 feet off a balcony onto a concrete floor, suffering a serious head injury that required him to be transported to a nearby hospital by helicopter. AMC announced Thursday that they had temporarily shut down production on the show’s eighth season in the wake of the tragic accident.

Bernecker is a veteran stunt performer and fight choreographer. Per his IMDb page, he has worked on projects such as “Olympus Has Fallen,” “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” and “Mockingjay Parts 1 & 2,” and “Logan,” among many others. He is also listed as having worked on »

Tyler Perry Inks Overall Deal With Viacom for Both TV and Film

Tyler Perry has signed a multiyear content deal with Viacom, which will (eventually) encompass TV shows, movies and short-form video. The big-screen collaboration begins right away, but Perry’s still under contract with Oprah Winfrey’s Own for television projects. Under the terms of the agreement, beginning in May 2019, Perry will produce approximately 90 episodes annually of original drama and comedy series for Bet and other Viacom networks, the publicly-traded corporation said Friday in a media release. Marvel announced the cast and premiere date for its new animated series “Marvel’s Spider-Man” during the the comic giant’s panel at D23 Expo in Anaheim, Calif., on Friday.

The show, premiering Aug. 19 on Disney Xd, takes a fresh look at Peter Parker as the superhero gets accepted into Horizon High, a high school for brilliant young scientific minds. He struggles to balance his social life while hiding his secret identity from his classmates while using his alter ego to take on supervillains.
