About

I am a member of the Therapeutic Arts team and one of two dance specialists within our school. I also hold an MA in Dance/Movement Psychotherapy.

Teaching responsibilities

I am module leader for the second and third year choreographic courses. I also deliver Dance, Diversity and Inclusion to the second years and Physicality and Technique to the first years. I deliver occasional sessions for the collaborative performance module of the Creative Expressive Therapies programme. I also deliver occasional lectures for the MA Dramatherapy programme. I supervise undergraduate and post-graduate IS and Body of Work

Professional interests

My work outside the University includes education and choreographic project work with the Royal Opera House, Birmingham Royal Ballet, English National Ballet, Buxton Opera House and the Royal Ballet School. I am also an animateur for Rambert Dance Company and teach the company's repertoire in a variety of educational settings. More locally, I teach ballet and contemporary technique at Deda, Derby's dance centre. I have accompanied the Royal Ballet Company on two international tours providing workshops for local dance artists and with some of Hong Kong's para-olympic athletes as well as with dance artists from Taiwan. I have also taught on the HAMK summer school in Finland representing Derby University. More recently I have choreographed an opera and choreographed and directed a piece of dance/theatre for the Buxton Festival (2011 and 2012 respectively) I also teach ballet to the CAT students in Nottingham

Research interests

Dance in education and the common ground between DMT and dance as an educational tool.
