You've probably come here because I reverted one of your links. Below are several arguments that spammers usually make on my talk page. Let's play:

Spammer Bingo

Please choose your argument if I reverted your spam.

1. This is a new and exciting product or service and the community needs to know about it. Response: You should consider an advertising budget. I have little confidence in a product or service whose business strategy is predicated on free Wikipedia advertising.

2. There are other commercial links on the page, what do you have against mine? Response: It's still spam. If there are other commercial links on the page, delete them. But if you put your link back, I am deleting it.

3. Anyone reverting my links must be a shill for my competitor. Response: Yes that's it. Based on all the spam reversions I do, I am actually on the payroll of over 5,000 organizations worldwide. My total income generated from this job is over $10 million a year. So you should consider doing what I do rather than spamming for your piddling little product.

4. This isn't advertising, it's knowledge. How is knowledge spam? Response: If it was really knowledge, you would have entered some of that knowledge into the article. Clearly your aim is not education, but making sure that your link is seen.

5. I have a right to be on Wikipedia. Response: You are permitted to do many things on Wikipedia to make it better. You are generally not allowed to advertise. Further about rights, I am only aware of the United States Constitution and Wikipedia spamming isn't really mentioned. If you can point to the relevant passage in your home country's constitution or declaration of human rights, then I shall allow you to spam.

6. I concede the link is commercial, but it has some content so it should stay. Response: You may find this to be a surprise, but I do give consideration to these circumstances and review the material on the link to make a decision. Before you come crying to me, consider these things. Does your content consist of two paragraphs which are more or less a basic definition or description? Does your content discuss why your particular brand is superior in the context of discussing the subject? Is your content already in the article and written by a non-commercial source? If your answer is yes, I will probably revert you. If it is no, let's discuss. If you come here and use reasons 1-5 as your main argument, you are wearing away any benefit of the doubt that I was willing to concede.

7. Now that you have read this, you need to go back to the beginning and read the external link guidelines and How not to be a spammer. If you had read this earlier, you might not have gotten your link reverted.

8. Why are you being so mean? Response: Because of the undying affection of my fan club. Folks like User207.134.157.248 who likes to spam for hotel booking sites and User:Examcoach who spams his audio books. Of course, There is also User:93.173.34.220. We aren't sure what his beef is, but he is from Israel and really loves my work. This guy is also from Israel and loves my work. Did I show up at a Palastinian fundraiser by mistake? A new addition to the spammer hall of fame represents a hedge fund that he wanted to spam. When the powers that be deleted his article, he attempted to delete some very notable ones in revenge. And there is this person who wants to carry out his personal grievances on Wikipedia. We are assuming he does this because he can't afford a lawyer.

Thanks guys, your love makes it all worthwhile.

Comparing vandalism notes[edit]

The list of eight points is interesting, particularly since I just penciled out a diagram for my own page of the top anonymous IP edits. They include categories such as "Wiki will never notice if I put a link to my site in this article" and "My valuable opinion about a fictional character".

Comparing notes, I've never been accused of being a shill for a competitor. But...maybe that means I should take time to investigate competitors!

Cheers! Piano non troppo (talk) 09:49, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

It's been awhile since I actually read the WP:SPAM link but I hope it contains some or all of what you have said above. Well said!Student7 (talk) 17:39, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

National Register of Historic Places listings in Fayette County, Pennsylvania[edit]

Thanks for catching the error here. One request — if you find spelling errors in any National Register of Historic Places lists, would you be willing to log them here, if you remember? The charts are derived from a database that has plenty of known spelling errors, so we do our best to record and report them.

I should also note — I love the "spammer bingo" section :-) Nyttend (talk) 21:42, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

Nice to know someone is fighting link spam. I've seen your username pop up a lot on recent changes, keep up the good work. Whispering 08:26, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

Eh, I've only started doing recent change patrol. I'm more of a new page patrol kind of guy, I just got rollback and thought I would take it for a spin. Whispering 03:44, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
Rollback is nice I can do in one click what it took three or more. And I can use it at work, we don't have firefox at work so I can't use twinkle there. Whispering 03:55, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

I think you have misapplied the WP:EL guideline in your edit to at least one article[edit]

Hey TP: great job on spam fighting. But I think when ELs act as references to an article (such as when they are enclosed in "ref" tags or "cite" templates), the WP:EL guideline does not apply; instead WP:CS does. When you removed ref's from the List of bicycle manufacturing companies, you were removing the sources for that article, not spam, so I reverted your edit. Also, I think a major edit (like that one) to any article may warrant the courtesy of advance discussion with the regular editors of that article (which you can easily identify by clicking on the "history" tab). Your thoughts? UnitedStatesian (talk) 03:19, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

It was not a spam link[edit]

Hello TastyPoutine

I had added this external link [1] on the Online_counseling article and you removed it. I checked your bingo list. I am sorry, I could not find any suitable category. This site is non-comercial (from what I saw). Could you please check the site yourself? I found it very informative on the subject of online therapy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Leontaurus (talkcontribs) 20:43, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

How Do I get an Article Submitted Posted or Reviewed for Inclusion[edit]

I helped to contriubte an article for a band called The Dialogue that I saw in concert and did some research on them and submitted an article. How would I go about getting it into the encyclopedia? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thedubaipost (talkcontribs) 16:12, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

House concert[edit]

I love your user name, and your spammer bingo. Now that I've buttered you up.... I noticed that you edited House concert, previously erasing spam. I've tried to improve the article. I'd like your evaluation as it stands. Another user proposed it for deletion. I'm trying to save it. Bearian (talk) 00:03, 21 July 2010 (UTC)

The comment below is an unprovoked act made by a representative of the Canadian floral company Bloomex. If this is their modus operandi on the Internet, think how they must treat customers. You wrote "some of your translations aren’t actually correct or entirely proper English", but after that reverted ALL my edits. In this regard, I expect from you correct translations with entirely proper English. ~ Чръный человек (talk) 11:15, 30 June 2018 (UTC)

That is correct. As a said, in many cases there was an explanation of the name in the article, in almost every case, the translation was in lowercase. Probably 80% had weak English or missed a ton of nuance. To expect me to go back and clean up everything is pretty unreasonable. I’m not carrying your water on this. If you want to do this, take a read of the discussions of names. Then that can give you an idea of how this has been done so far. Then have a general discussion with other editors since you are making changes on dozens of articles. TastyPoutine talk (if you dare) 11:25, 30 June 2018 (UTC)

Millbrae station[edit]

Thanks for taking a look at Millbrae station. I'm a bit disappointed that you didn't think the article was worth a full review - all of your objections seem like things that could be easily addressed. Would you be willing to consider a full GA review so I can work on your concerns? Pi.1415926535 (talk) 22:50, 7 August 2018 (UTC)

I’m sorry you’re disappointed. In terms of the writing, it really needed some work. It was a bit tough to follow right from the second paragraph. I think it’ll probably take a little more work in terms of research and sourcing than you think which is why I failed it. I’d really focus on hitting the history of development of the new station and being more clear that there is a delineation between the old and new. Transit station take decades to get built and the story behind it might add some color to the article. But of course I’ll give it another shot and look at it again. And if you’d prefer that someone else do it, I’ll steer clear of the revision. TastyPoutine talk (if you dare) 23:10, 7 August 2018 (UTC)

I'll take #4 on spammer bingo for This revert. The things I put in the article are explained in greater detail in Rubin's own article, so I don't see why it's a problem for the summary of them to be in the Sixers' season article. pbp 14:53, 26 August 2018 (UTC)
