Resources for Librarians

Our Commitment to Library Partnerships

The library world is changing. In the face of evolving technology, shrinking library budgets, and increasing demand for instantaneous access to information, Taylor & Francis has made it a priority to develop meaningful, lasting partnerships with librarians.

As you peruse the tabs on this page, you’ll get an idea of how important our librarian partners are to us, and the steps we’re taking to nurture our relationships with them.

  • We assess librarians’ needs, methodology, and pain-points through groundbreaking primary research.
  • We attend and present at prominent library conferences.
  • We create innovative online platforms to help librarians develop collections that meet their students’
    and institution’s needs.
  • We publish digestible supplemental information – in the forms of white papers, snapshots, video, social
media, newsletters, and more! – that we believe will be useful to librarians.

And we’re always looking for ways to do even more.

People are Talking About the Librarian-Publisher Relationship!

“It’s really a give-and-take – you need each other.”

“What I’ve seen is how much people want to have mature, collaborative discussions; how much people are prepared to ask questions and recognize uncertainty; but also, how much people recognize the long-term value of what the library brings, and the role of the librarian, which is still vital.”

“We are intermediaries in this relationship between the users and the people who are publishing all the research, so we need to understand each other. It need not be any sort of adversarial relationship, even though there’s money involved, because the publishers are doing incredible work producing excellent research publications that [librarians] need.”

“As publishers, it’s very easy to view the world simply through a publishing viewpoint. [The Charleston Library Conference] enables us to connect with people who can round out the bits of our understanding that we don’t have on our own.”
