On Wednesday, a contractor begins a project for replacing sidewalks and improving bicycle routes along the west side of a 15-block stretch of Highway 99 in Vancouver from Northeast 63rd to 78th streets. The project includes a new mid-block crossing and landscaping.  The projected finish date for the entire project is October 1.

Drivers will experience delays and lane closures during construction (mostly during daylight hours) and should follow signs and plan for alternate routes. All businesses will remain open during the work.

Work continues in Damascus on a water main break and sinkhole on OR 212 near 202nd Avenue. Traffic can get by on one lane in each direction. Expect delays in the area.

Night lane closures on Interstate 5 for a paving project south of the Boone Bridge (Wilsonville) will start earlier each night beginning 9 p.m. Wednesday, to help the project wrap up sooner. Following a crash that killed a highway worker in the early morning hours in the work zone near a rest stop, ODOT is hoping to improve safety and complete the project as soon as possible. The additional hour of lane closures means fewer nights of closed lanes as the paving project continues.

The paving is needed on 12.5 miles of I-5 from Woodburn to Wilsonville due to badly rutted roads from this winter's storms.

Finally, heads up for travelers on Southeast McLoughlin Boulevard (OR 99E) for the first of four weekend closures on Friday, July 7. Crews will replace the bridge over Crystal Springs with a culvert. Northbound lanes will be closed between Tacoma and Harold streets 10 p.m. Friday - 5 a.m. Monday, July 7-10.
