Tom Edmondson - New Designers Show

“The course at Derby was great. The animation teachers offer amazing support and nurture the abilities of each student. I'm incredibly happy to have graduated from the University of Derby.”

Thomas Edmondson, who graduated from the University of Derby in 2016 after completing a BA (Hons) Animation and won the Screening Prize at the New Designers Awards. He based his animation around the 19th Century Paignton Pudding Riot – a celebration to mark the arrival of the railway where a crowd of 18,000 scrambled for pieces of the pudding and a riot broke out.

This is Art and Design

  • Sharpen your skills as you take part in competitions and exhibitions. Graphic Design student Kate Fenton won first prize and £1,000 in the Point of Purchase Advertising International (POPAI) Student Awards 2015 for her Play-Doh bakery aimed to distract children from technology. “I’ve enjoyed every stage of my degree so far. But presenting my designs in front of a panel from the creative industry as part of a module has been a learning curve and a confidence boost.” Kate Fenton, BA (Hons) Graphic Design.
  • Give yourself a competitive edge - work placements can lead to an extra qualification - the Diploma in Professional Practice.
