OREGON'S GOLD GLOVE FIELDERS
We've honored hitting and pitching. Now it's time to celebrate the third component of the game -- defense.
Who are the top defensive stars in Oregon high school baseball and softball? Here's a look at some of the obvious candidates.
Note that this list is not meant to be comprehensive. Players listed here are suggestions from coaches and others that we've noticed in the more than 75 games we've covered this spring. Who else stars on defense around the state? Let us know in the comments section below!

Devinne Amesquita, West Linn, senior

West Linn coach Monica Sorenson calls Amesquita “an amazing catcher.” The varsity captain and leader for the Lions is stellar behind the plate and also hits the ball well. Last year, her great defense and ability to hit for both average and power (.545, five home runs) earned her a spot on the all-state second team. She will play at North Idaho College.

Jensen Becker, Glencoe, sophomore
Chase Allgood | For The Oregonian/OregonLive
Becker can bunt for a hit, but the lefty can also hit for power. As a freshman, she led the state runners-up in home runs. Defensively, she plays the outfield and has a cannon arm. “She has multiple offers on the table as a 10th grader and continues to put in the work to play at a very high level after high school,” Crimson Tide coach Jason Eastman said.
