Non-Discrimination Policy

Thomas M. Cooley Law School is committed to a fair and objective admissions policy.

Policy

Subject to space limitations, Cooley offers the opportunity for legal education to all qualified applicants. Cooley abides by all federal and state laws against discrimination. In addition, Cooley abides by American Bar Association Standard 211(a), which provides that "a law school shall foster and maintain equality of opportunity in legal education, including employment of faculty and staff, without discrimination or segregation on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age or disability."

Cooley's Approach to Legal Education

Cooley Law School stands firm in its belief that the study of law should not be an esoteric pursuit or the practice of law an elitist profession. The school was founded on the premise that an individual's formal knowledge of the law is beneficial to society as a whole, and that the strength of a democracy depends upon the ability of people to understand their laws.

Toward that end, Cooley Law School is proud of its reputation of offering admission opportunities to a diverse group of applicants.

Cooley Law School enters three terms each year in January, May, and September and operates on a "rolling admissions" system, which means applications are processed at the time they are received.

When all required materials are received by the Admissions Office, a decision is made and the applicant is informed of his or her admission status.

An independent, private, non-profit educational institution affiliated with Western Michigan University. The Law School, as an independent institution, is solely responsible for its academic program. Accredited by the American Bar Association and the Higher Learning Commission. The Law School has campuses across Michigan in Lansing, Auburn Hills, Grand Rapids and in Tampa Bay, Florida.
