Oregon Ducks' Dillon Brooks picked 45th in NBA draft, traded to Memphis Grizzlies

The man who led the Oregon Ducks throughout the majority of the most successful season since 1939 had to wait a little longer than his teammates, but Dillon Brooks has finally found a home.

After watching Jordan Bell and Tyler Dorsey be selected before him, Brooks was picked 45th by the Houston Rockets before being traded to the Memphis Grizzlies.

Brooks' selection marks the first time in Oregon history that three players have been selected in the two-round draft.

Brooks played three seasons at Oregon and was named the Pac-12's player of the year after his stellar junior season. In helping lead the Ducks to the Final Four for the first time since 1939, Brooks averaged 16.1 points and showed a knack for knocking down big shots, such as his buzzer-beaters against UCLA and Cal.

In a breakdown of Brooks' game, DraftExpress.com noted his ability to be a "dynamic offensive option" and history of hitting clutch shots while questioning how his style will translate into the pros.

"He has just decent size for a combo forward type, and lacks the plus length or outstanding athletic ability to make up for it," the site wrote. "... Given his strength and skill set he is a major mismatch at the college level, but will have to improve his overall consistency on the defensive end, as well as his decision making, shot-selection and at times questionable demeanor around teammates."
