We live in a time when you can get pretty much everything delivered to your front door. So why not make the most of it?

Here, we've rounded up the subscription packages that cater specifically to men – from fashion and grooming to food. Most operate on a monthly delivery basis, although many offer greater variety if you want to receive the boxes less regularly, which can help to spread the costs.

1. Lifebox Men’s Health Subscription: £21.95 per month, Lifebox

For those determined to kick on with the health drive, but unsure of how to source the best foods, Lifebox has a solution. Packed into each monthly package are at least 12 products – in ours those included a coconut milkshake, sugar and dairy-free chocolate. This box is designed specifically to meet the nutritional needs of men, but there are others for women, vegans and kids over the age of three.

2. London Sock Company Membership: from £10 per month, London Sock Company

No-one wants to be the man that, after taking off his shoes, reveals a stark big toe sticking out of a holey sock. Avoid such ignominy by becoming a member of the London Sock Company, which will deliver one, two or three pairs of brand new socks to your door each month. The British-made cotton pair we received, which had a miniature polka dot pattern, felt high-quality and were very comfortable.

Face it, your pair of lucky pants, which you bought god-knows-how-long ago, are in desperate need of an upgrade. Specify your size (small, medium, large or extra large), favoured cut (briefs, trunks and boxers) and style (classic or colourful), and Briefd will endow you with a new pair of undies each month. The standard subscription features brands such as Diesel and Frank Dandy, while for an extra six quid, you’ll receive the likes of Calvin Klein and Björn Borg. So it’s farewell to those boxers you passed your driving test in.

If you regularly get suited and booted but become bored with the same old accessories, invest in a style box subscription from the Windsor-based Me My Suit & Tie. The contents of each box – comprising a tie, socks, pocket square and three further accessories – are designed in-house. Our favourite component of our box, which was Casino Royale-themed, was the navy and red polka-dotted tie, made from 100 per cent silk. A range of subscription pay plans are available, from monthly to 12 months up front.

This grooming box is all about helping you discover new products for your daily routine, rather than keeping you fully stocked. Comprising mainly of travel-sized items, with some full-sized products too, the boxes are curated for your specific needs – thanks to a detailed online questionnaire filled out as you sign up (including questions on your age, skin type, hair concerns and more). In ours, we had a facial moisturiser, body wash, post-shave balm and an aftershave, all of which we enjoyed and from brands that we hadn't necessarily considered before.

7. Hawkins & Shepherd Shirt Subscription: from £24 per month, Hawkins & Shepherd

If your job requires a shirt to be worn every day, chances are you’ll wear them out rather swiftly. That’s where this subscription box, developed by a London-based luxury shirt maker, comes in. It will take into account your style preferences – including collar size and type, shape and fit – and send you a new shirt, either on a monthly, bi-monthly or quarterly basis. Each shirt has an average value of £90 and is hand-made – the quality certainly showed in the 100 per cent cotton pieces we received.

Verdict

Your choice should of course depend on which box caters for your needs. We liked the discovery aspect of the Toppbox, but in terms of value for money, we'd recommend the Lifebox, which was jam-packed with food – and all for just over £20.
