The Buzz:
As the summer movie season kicked commenced, Universal unveiled their Dark Universe, a shared universe of action-adventure/horror films based on their classic monster characters. If their casting decisions remain as exciting as the thought of Sofia Boutella playing the ancient princess Ahmanet, we imagine audiences will welcome back The Bride of Frankenstein (coming February 2019 from director Bill Condon) and all the reintroductions to come.
Also worth noting is how this feels like the least Tom Cruise-y Tom Cruise movie to date. Although he's wowing as usual with his commitment to entertaining us at all costs, it's pretty gentlemanly how the focus is pretty much kept on The Mummy herself. Cruise of course generated plenty of attention over the past few weeks with news that his Top Gun sequel will start filming next year.
Megan Leavey (2017)
Based on the true life story of a young Marine corporal whose unique discipline and bond with her military combat dog saved many lives during their deployment in Iraq.

The Buzz: art tear-jerker, part crowd-pleaser, and all true story, Kate Mara's portrayal of Marine Corporal Megan Leavey is angling for breakout hit status this summer, as word of mouth looks to be the key factor of the movie's success.

The Buzz: Krisha director Trey Edward Shults reteams with the innovative movie studio A24 for a contemporary horror/mystery tale with a trailer we can barely get through without passing out from anxiety. Could this become the next breakout horror hit a la It Follows and The Witch?
The Hero (2017) - [Limited]
An ailing movie star comes to terms with his past and mortality.
Director:Brett Haley |

The Buzz: Brett Haley had a breakout hit in 2015 with I'll See You in My Dreams, and his new film follows a similar path as Sam Elliott (who had a key role in Dreams) faces issues of aging and mortality in his personal and professional life. Based on the film's Sundance reception, Haley could have another sleeper hit this year.
Beatriz at Dinner (2017)
A holistic medicine practitioner attends a wealthy client's dinner party after her car breaks down.
Director:Miguel Arteta |

The Buzz: This time last year we never would have guessed that one of the biggest summer-movie showdowns of 2017 would find Salma Hayek pitted against John Lithgow as they sit down to supper. Hayek might have a career-best performance in this race- and class-conscious comedy from writer Mike White and director Miguel Arteta.
My Cousin Rachel (2017)
A young Englishman plots revenge against his mysterious, beautiful cousin, believing that she murdered his guardian. But his feelings become complicated as he finds himself falling under the beguiling spell of her charms.
Director:Roger Michell |

The Buzz: We love Rachel Weisz unconditionally as an actress but freely admit we adore her the most when she plays a mysterious character, and her role in Roger Michell's adaptation of Daphne Du Maurier's novel seems like her darkest material yet.
