| Sandy grew up in Baltimore, where she graduated from Western High School in 1971 with honors. She graduated from University of Baltimore with an Undergraduate Degree, as well as, University College at College Park with a Masters Degree in Health Care Administration. Sandy worked for the University of Maryland Baltimore Dental School for over 30 years. She was the Director of Central Material Services where she supported dental school faculty and students through her strong work ethic, persistence, management skills, and development of a support staff. Before her tenure at UMB she worked in administration at the University of Maryland Baltimore Hospital in Shock Trauma and Johns Hopkins on the Homewood Campus. |

OSAP mourns the loss of the great dental educator William Bird DDS DrPH that occurred on July 18, 2012. Bill was a great friend to OSAP. On a national/ international level he served on foundation boards supporting infection control for dental offices and institutions globally. He served on the faculty of the UCSF School of Dentistry for the past 22 years. Following his retirement, he returned on a part-time recall as a Health Sciences Clinical Professor Emeritus to assist with special projects in the Department of Preventive and Restorative Dental Sciences. | Walt had an illustrious 31-year career as an indoor environmental microbiologist. He went to work for the Centers for Disease Control in 1968 where he was assigned to the Phoenix Field Station and started his career working in the Planetary Spacecraft Sterilization program in partnership with NASA. While in Phoenix, he did notable research on spore-forming bacteria. During this time he discovered a highly thermo-resistant bacterial spore which was officially named Bacillus xerothermodurans. He transitioned into what would become his life-long passion of environmental infection control. The scope of his work included hepatitis B virus microbiology, sterilization and disinfection of medical instruments and healthcare facility surfaces, and healthcare worker safety. His work in this latter subject laid out the scientific principles involved in healthcare occupational infection, which were incorporated into the OSHA bloodborne pathogens standard released in 1991. |

| It is with deep regret and profound sadness that we inform you that Charles “Chuck” Cottrell passed away suddenly on July 2, 2015 at his home in Glendale, Arizona. Chuck was a long-time member of the Dental community and a pioneer in the infection control industry. He founded Cottrell, Ltd. with his then wife Peggy in 1979, which grew into a leading infection control products company servicing the Dental industry. Chuck held positions as: Chairman of the American Dental Trade Association (ADTA); Founding Chairman of the ADTA Foundation; A.T. Still University - Executive Director; Office Safety and Asepsis Procedures Research Foundation (OSAP) -¬ Founder and Founding Chairperson; The Dental Manufacturer’s Association (DMA) - Board Member; American Dental Assistants Association (ADAA) Foundation - Founding Chair; Oral Health America (OHA) - Trustee Advisor; The National Foundation for Dentistry for Handicapped - Board Member; Kids In Need of Dentistry (KIND) – Board Member; and Camp-Get-A-Well-A - Officer and Board Member. OSAP mourns the loss of the renowned educator James Joseph Crawford PhD that occurred on January 11, 2013. Jim was one of the "fathers in dental infection control", and a founding officer of OSAP. Jim wanted to take microbiology out of the basic textbook and make it relevant and useful to the dentist. He certainly succeeded as his landmark If Saliva Were Red is a concept that transcends language and offers a visual lesson that no one who has ever seen it forgets. Click here to learn more.

| Mary was proud to be an Iowa City native, living nearly her entire life in the Goosetown neighborhood and very much enjoyed the history surrounding the area. Mary worked for 37 years at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Central Sterilizing and currently was working at the UI College of Dentistry. She was the current President of the Central Service Association of Iowa, Inc., as well as a founding member. |

| Lisa earned her bachelors degree of science in dental hygiene from Thomas Jefferson University. She began working at a private practice, but found a passion for teaching and attained a position as clinical instructor and administrative coordinator at UMDNJ, now Rutgers University, in Scotch Plains, N.J. As an allied health professional, Lisa was a member of the New Jersey Dental Hygienists Association (NJDHA) and American Dental Hygienists Association (ADHA). |
