Beta Upsilon History

Archon Oscar Daniels of San Francisco called a meeting in late 1982 to begin discussions about organizing a member boulé in San Francisco. A member of Alpha Gamma Boulé in Oakland, he invited five doctors and an attorney, all members of that boulé at one time or another; they in turn invited a few more men in order to have the minimum ten members required to charter a new boulé. All outstanding leaders in their respective professions, the chartering Archons were also known both locally and nationally for their civic contributions and community involvement. At the time, most meetings of Alpha Gamma Boulé were held in Oakland, and these Archons who lived in San Francisco wanted their meetings held closer to home. The process took about six months, and on July 8, 1983, Beta Upsilon Boulé  became the sixty-sixth member boulé of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity. Since 1983 the boulé has grown considerably and now comprises of Archons of diverse professions:  CEOs of major corporations, college professors, senior vice presidents of major banks, board members of national organizations, as well as outstanding lawyers, physicians, and dentists.
